ISMAIL RAZGA AND NURIA PICAS CHAMPIONS OF THE BUFF® EPIC TRAIL HALF MARATHON®
The race, with departure and arrival in Barruera, closes the fourth edition of the BUFF® EPIC TRAIL 2017. At 7 am, about 400 runners have taken the start and have faced for 21km rocky paths and high mountain areas up to 2,600m of elevation gain and 1,879m of positive slope.
The winner of men’s category has not been defined until almost the last meters of the race. The persistence and strength of Ismail Razga, who after abandoning the 42k marathon the day before and despite having suffered a fall during the half marathon, has managed to climb positions in the last meters letting him to become the leader of this race with a time of 02:18:53. With just 13 seconds left, the second position has been for Jo Forseth (02:19:06), who has been leading the race until he was last surprised by Ismail. The podium is completed by Juan Javier Jiménez, who has finished this half marathon in 02:19:29.
In women’s category it’s necessary to highlight the race of Núria Picas from BUFF® Pro Team (02:55:51). After retiring from Makalu and still recovering from a pneumonia, she overcomed Clementine Geoffray, who was leading the race so far, but after the overtaking of Núria Picas, finished the race in second place (03 : 00: 10). Finally, Imma Boada closed this podium with a time of 03:13:19.
