BUFF® MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL, REPLETE WITH ACTIVITIES AND EXCITEMENT, BEGINS

The new and improved second edition of the mountain festival has begun, filling Vall de Boí across the whole weekend.

The Mayor of Barruera, Joan Perelada; David Camps, BUFF® Managing Director; and Xavier Rojas, representing the family of Joan Rojas, were responsible for opening proceedings. During the event, special attention was given to the great relationship between the festival and Vall de Boí, the incredible place where sport meets the mountains. The fundamental role of Joan Rojas, who passionately supported past editions of the festival and championed the great values of sport and nature, was also highlighted.

Activities such as canyoning, rafting and paragliding kicked off the festival in the morning. In the afternoon, kids’ activities and the Campus Natura got going, in which the little ones were able to enjoy different areas with climbing and zip lines, a wood park and agility circuit, among others, for guaranteed adventure! They also brought out their artistic sides with workshops for all ages.

On Saturday at 6 a.m. one of the most exciting moments of the festival takes places with the start of the BUFF® Epic Trail 65K, which as of this year has been renamed the Joan Rojas Memorial, in tribute to the founder of BUFF®. 65 kilometres and 5,600 metres of elevation gain await the bravest trail runners.

Two hours later, the 26 kilometre race with 2,060 metres of elevation gain will set off. Both races will go through the area around the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and the mountains surrounding the ski resort of Boí Taüll.

Both distances will see top-level runners compete such as Zach Miller, Gerard Morales, Judith Franch, Eugeni Roselló, Andreu Simón, Pau Zamora, Ernest Ausiró and Manu Vilaseca.

An opening day that serves as a precursor to the impressive weekend awaiting all the participants and visitors of BUFF® Mountain Festival 2018.
