The third edition of the BUFF® Epic Trail, part of the BUFF Mountain Festival, the most important mountain sports festival in southern Europe, will also include the most important Skyrunning race in the world. The 42-km race is part of the world circuit of the Migu Run Skyrunning World Series and is also one of the few races selected as Super Sky, which means there are double points up for grabs and therefore a great deal of interest in terms of participation.

You’ll no doubt agree when you take a look at the list of confirmed world-class runners. The best in the world wouldn’t dare miss the race, which apart from having double points, is also a classic in the international calendar and a fixture in the yearly schedules of many runners.

For fans of Skyrunning the list of participants is out of this world, akin to going to see a world championship in any sport and watching the best teams and sport stars compete. All the greats will be there: Pablo Villa, Luis Alberto, Hillary Gerardi and Holly Page, among many others.

The race takes place on Sunday July 14 starting in the town of Barruera, capital of the Vall de Boí municipality, and the festival’s operations centre each year. The race will start at 8 a.m. and must be completed within a maximum of nine hours, with the race closing at 5 p.m., although the first past the finishing line are expected to do so in under half this time.

The highest point of the race will be Comaminyana at 2,619 metres, with a cumulative elevation gain of 2,900 metres. The race will be truly spectacular crossing valleys and rivers, and overcoming magnificent ridges and saddles, overlooking the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, one of the most beautiful natural places in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
