Starting at six in the morning with the Memorial Joan Rojas, a marathon day of races and activities was nonetheless filled with a cheerful atmosphere. Barruera was the setting of great moments, thanks in part also to the fine weather.

In addition to the kids’ art and adventure activities, a particular highlight was the Mini-Skyrace: non-competitive races for boys and girls to experience their first trailrunning experience so that everyone has their moment in the spotlight!

At the same time, there were also activities for improving Nordic walking skills and yoga classes for relaxation.

SKYRUNNING HAS NO BORDERS

The second day of the festival brought together over 1,350 runners for both the BUFF®Epic Trail 26K and the more extreme 65-km Memorial Joan Rojas.

At six in the morning, with the sun about to shine, the sixth edition of the BUFF®Epic Trail 65K – Memorial Joan Rojasbegan with 350 participants from 25 different countries.

Once again it demonstrated how the values of skyrunning are faultless with Andreu Simonand Ernest Ausirócrossing the finish line together, sharing a triumph that owes to camaraderie and teamwork. Behind them, Jakub Uherekcompleted the podium.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Elisabeth Ríostook the top spot, followed by Aida Pérezand Belinda Ortiz.

Two hours later the 26-km race began, in which Borja Zubizarretaand Eli Gordónwere able to make the most of an excellent advantage from halfway through the race.

To round off the day, the finest runners from tomorrow’ race were presented. The 42-km race with 2,800 meters elevation gain, which is part of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series with Super Sky category, gets underway at eight in the morning.

At nine thirty in the morning it will be the turn of the 12-km race with 480 metres of elevation gain, while the countless activities for all visitors will continue until the end of the festival.

Mountain biking will also have its own moment of glory with the fourth round of the 2019 Scott Marathon Cup MTB, which will have guaranteed excitement as riders battle it out for leadership before the last round in September.

Vall de Boí: candidate to host the 2020 Skyrunning World Championships

Vall de Boí is a world-renowned centre of prestige for Skyrunnng, to such an extent that it has hosted the world championships of both the 2012 and 2016 editions and several World Series races. It is now putting itself forward as a candidate for 2020, which takes place from 9–12 July.
