LUIS ALBERTO HERNANDO AND CAROLINE CHAVEROT WIN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ULTRASKYMARATHON®

The BUFF® Epic Trail Ultraskymarathon®, has begun this morning. A spectacular start line with 195 runners – 28 women’s category and 167 for men – and a great presence of the public that they have enjoyed a unique and highly competition.

The first runners of the men’s category have been kept for several kilometers in a very compact group led by Andy Simons and with a large group of runners among Luis Alberto Hernando. The positions has been constantly modified due to the various drops caused by the harshness of the test, such as Dimitry Mityev, Frenchman Vivien Reynaud or Francesc Solé.

Luis Alberto Hernando, who started the test in the sixth position, led the race gradually and thus, he has revalidated his title as World Champion in Ultra. Hernando have already won at Charmonix in 2014 with a difference of 30 minutes of Andy Simonds, followed by Javier Domínguez, who reached third place.

In women’s category, Nuria Picas, champion of the two previous editions of the BUFF® Epic Trail and great expert of the area, has forced to discontinue her race with physical disturbances. Carolina Chaverot has been the undisputed leader of the race, keeping from top to bottom the first position. In addition to becoming the new World Champion in Ultra, he has achieved the 10th position of the overall ranking. With approximately one hour of difference, the second place has been for Eva María Moreda, followed closely by Jasmin Paris.

A race that revalidates its condition of epic test and that has concentrated to the best ultra-rare world.
